GB/T 12459 \"Steel Butt-Welded Fittings – Types and Parameters\" does not include as standard fittings items such as \"angled tees (with the directions of the connecting pipes being perpendicular to each other, that is, along the X, Y, and Z axes)\\", \"Y-shaped tees\", and \"obliquely connected tees\", which may also be used frequently in certain situations. When arranging pipes, it is common to think that a single fitting can solve the problem in areas where there are turns and tees; however, it becomes clear that a elbow and a tee are needed instead, as there is no standard fitting known as an “angular tee”. For the piping arrangement at the pump inlet, in order to ensure even distribution, standard T-joints are used; 90-degree elbows are required as well. Sometimes, the available space is too limited, making it difficult to arrange the pipes properly, and having Y-joints would greatly simplify things. The connections of main and branch pipes for gas or condensate pipes often need to be made at an angle, and thermometers inserted into pipes are also usually installed at an angle. I don’t know why these three types of tees are not available among the standard fittings – is it because of the difficulty in manufacturing them?
Personally, I don’t think it’s a problem of difficulty in processing. National standards still need to make choices regarding the definition of what constitutes standard components; if everything were considered a standard component, then there would be no point in having standards anymore, right?
The standards for fiberglass pipe fittings include obliquely connected tees, whereas the standards for metal butt-welded fittings do not.
