Why can the windward bag on the device float and indicate the direction of the wind?
It’s like holding a cloth bag with the opening facing the wind.

Wind is the movement of air, and this movement possesses kinetic energy. As the air flows through a wind tunnel, its speed decreases; the kinetic energy is then converted into gravitational potential energy as the air mass rises. The result is that the air mass floats upward
As for why it is possible to determine the direction of the wind, this can be explained using Newton’s third law: the force acting on the cloth bag and the resistance exerted by the airflow passing through the bag form a pair of equal and opposite forces. Therefore, the direction indicated by the cloth bag is the direction of the airflow, which is the opposite direction of the wind. (For example, east wind refers to wind blowing from the east toward the west)
