On August 8, the second council meeting of the China Soda Ash Industry Association in 2012 took place at the Boyuan Howard Johnson Hotel. Wang Xiling, President of the China Soda Ash Industry Association; Cheng Lin, Secretary-General; Jiang Licuan, Deputy Director of the Information Department; and members of the Council of the China Soda Ash Industry Association attended the meeting, along with Dai Lianrong, Honorary President of the China Soda Ash Industry Association and Chairman of the Board of Directors of our Group, as well as Liang Runbiao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of our Group. At the meeting, Dai Lianrong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of our Group, delivered a speech. He introduced to the attendees the industrial layout and development status of Boyuan Group. Additionally, he shared his ideas on how the association can guide the development of industries and enterprises amidst the current economic downturn and weak market conditions. Dai Lianrong introduced to the attendees the basic details of our Group’s project in Narin River, Wushen Banner, which involves an investment in the construction of facilities capable of producing 1 million tons of PVC per year, 1 million tons of soda ash per year, and 300,000 tons of new building materials per year. He also explained that the project leverages local advantageous resources such as coal, natural gas, and salt. Through a comprehensive cycle and effective integration among the coal chemical, chlor-alkali chemical, and soda ash chemical industries, the project aims to develop a self-sustaining industrial ecosystem, thereby realizing the strategic goals of comprehensive energy utilization and environmental friendliness. Participants believed that Dai’s views on industrial development are forward-looking and strategic, and worthy of thorough study. At the meeting, Cheng Lin, Secretary-General of the China Soda Ash Industry Association, delivered a report titled “Summary of the Work of the China Soda Ash Industry Association in the First Half of 2012 and Work Plan for the Second Half”. There was also a discussion on admitting new members; in accordance with the association’s bylaws, proposals regarding adjustments to the board of directors submitted by two organizations were accepted. Wang Xiling, President of the China Soda Ash Industry Association, gave a speech on how soda ash enterprises should respond to the characteristics of economic operations in the first half of the year as well as the economic situation expected in the second half. In the afternoon, expert deliberation was conducted on the evaluation of the effectiveness of the “Access Conditions for the Soda Ash Industry” issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as well as on subsequent policy research. Solvay process or combined process? Wasn’t it said last year that no more approvals would be given for plants using the ammonia-soda process?
As I understand it, it’s probably ammonia alkali. Everything that wants to be done will be approved; there are even those in Qinghai and Xinjiang who are eager to give it a try!
