Our plant has several 90 m³ hydrochloric acid storage tanks. Each time we load or unload them, a large amount of acid mist is released from the tank tops, especially during cleaning (when water is introduced). The poster can make an absorber himself: use a section of PVC pipe with a diameter of 400 mm and a height of 1 meter; on the upper part, install a grating plate to hold the packing material. Pour water onto the packing material, and connect a pipe from the vent outlet of the hydrochloric acid storage tank to the lower part of this absorber. Each time loading and unloading is performed, opening the primary water valve at the top of the absorber to absorb acid mist will bring about some improvement.
It’s normal for acid mist to be emitted during unloading; a hydrojet ejector will do the trick—it can extract the hydrogen chloride gas from the top of the tank.
