Hello everyone: Our company uses a 10% sodium hypochlorite aqueous solution as the exhaust gas absorption fluid for exhaust gas treatment, and the absorption towers and circulation pumps made of PP material often break or crack. It is suspected that sodium hydride caused the aging. What material is suitable for long-term use in a 10% sodium hypochlorite solution? Use success stories?
Is the temperature too high? It’s caused by other reasons as well; it should work. Of course, using titanium for hyposodium is a one-time solution.
Materials such as PVC and polytetrafluoroethylene can all be used. Sodium hypochlorite has strong oxidizing properties, which can cause pp materials to age and crack, especially at the welds
Can fiberglass-reinforced plastic be considered for the absorption towers and pipelines, while fluoroplastic pumps can be used? :)
PVC is not suitable; it suffers from severe cracking, environmental stress cracking (ESC), and SCC similar to that seen in metals. Polytetrafluoroethylene or titanium materials are required.
