There are two mother liquor exchangers in the company; since the system was put into operation recently, the tubes of these exchangers have been leaking frequently. I’d like to ask those who are more experienced – have you encountered this before? Could you please advise on what usually causes it? The tube material is all 316L stainless steel.
Where is the leakage location in the tube heat exchanger? Is it inside the tube bundle or at the head? Is the pressure too high in your production control process? Is the liquid pressure on both sides of the mother pump balanced as well? All of these can lead to leaks. It is also necessary to check whether there is a problem with the device itself. This needs to be checked.

It has been in use for several years; even 316L material can corrode and develop leaks over time. Excessive high-pressure cleaning can also cause leaks. If the problem has arisen after a short period, it might be due to installation issues or quality problems. It’s necessary to determine exactly where the leak is occurring in order to locate it
It may be underscale corrosion, leading to perforation. HJW—105, a scale inhibitor specifically designed for soda ash mother liquor, can be added to prevent scaling in the mother liquor used in the production of combined alkalis. After adding the mother liquor scale inhibitor, it will **extend the time before scaling occurs and reduce the frequency of cleaning. It not only reduces cleaning costs, but also minimizes corrosion of equipment and pipelines caused by cleaning, reduces downtime, and increases production.
Graphite heat exchangers can be used to completely resolve the corrosion problem at its root.
If the leakage occurs at the tube sheet, it is a quality issue. Additionally, austenitic stainless steel does not have an ideal durability in CL environments
