During single-tank sampling, black precipitates were found at the cathode outlet, something that had never occurred before; everyone is trying to figure out what could be causing this.
Blackish-gray precipitates have been observed in the cathode outlet manifold; the amount of precipitation varies among different tanks in the system, with some having a high level of it. Analysis shows that the main components are zirconium, nickel, and iron.
The issues that need to be analyzed are mainly coating peeling, pipeline corrosion, and iron content in the cathodic alkaline solution; it’s best to conduct tests and analyses oneself, and it’s advisable to stop and take a look
It seems there are too many metal ions released from the pipes
The cell padding is corroding and starting to fall off; be sure to check regularly whether the cell is leaking!
Magnets can be used to conduct a qualitative analysis of the black substance; if it is attracted by the magnet, then it is a metallic material. Then use chemical reagents to confirm whether it is iron or nickel. If it is iron, check whether the pipeline lining is damaged; if iron corrosion has entered the system, check the coating in the case of nickel
If it’s nickel, why is it a coating? Could it be caused by corrosion of the 310 stainless steel pipes? Is it possible?
If it’s not metal, it’s possible that you used domestic gaskets which have corroded and fallen off. In any case, I agree with the person above – the vehicle needs to be stopped for inspection to confirm the situation.
