In the vinyl chloride synthesis unit’s mixture demister, at a certain temperature and pressure, is the water content affected by the concentration of hydrochloric acid and the size of the acid mist particles? Does the concentration of hydrochloric acid affect the particle size of the acid mist?

Firstly, the hydrochloric acid produced by the acid mist catcher is graphitic acid. If the moisture content in your two feed gases is within normal limits, the acid will always remain saturated; in other words, any water present in the feed gases will always be dissolved in HCl. We have measured the acidity of graphitic acid, and it is around 40%. This means that the acidity level is directly affected by the temperature of the mixer. If we follow this line of thought, then can you control the concentration of the acid? The particle size of the acid mist on the oil-impregnated cotton depends on the gas flow rate specified in the initial design of the fog catcher, as well as the quality of the oil-impregnated cotton; it also varies depending on the acidity level. Acid mist settles naturally; without large fog droplets, it can’t settle, right?
