I’m consulting the experts here, GGJJMM. One of our workshops needs to use chlorine, which will undergo reactions inside high-temperature furnace tubes. I think this should be designed by a chemical engineering firm – are there any particular considerations? Shouldn’t an explosion occur, given that chlorine is relatively stable?
It’s meant for design institutes; don’t use it casually. An explosion isn’t necessarily inevitable – it depends on the reaction that occurs. The key point is that this substance is toxic

If the purity of chlorine is above 99.99, there are no major issues. The chlorine produced by electrolysis generally has a purity of over 98.5 (I work in the electrolysis section). The impurities involved are hydrogen and oxygen present in chlorine. During compression, nitric trichloride is formed, and this substance can explode due to photolysis; these are the main things to be aware of. Please be understanding if there are any areas that fall short.

Let professionals handle professional matters; for such risky tasks, even friendly assistance is inappropriate, as blame is likely to arise if something goes wrong. Such things are not acceptable, neither in public nor in private. Besides, no one uses chlorine at home; there’s no need to use chlorine to harm others. It’s costly and inefficient – household blenders would be much better.
