The composition includes 31-35% hydrochloric acid, 1-2% sulfuric acid, less than 1% acetic acid, and it may also contain small amounts of acyl chlorides and sulfur dioxide. The traditional sulfur-based process for chloroacetic acid is somewhat outdated. By making modifications to the exhaust gas treatment system, it is possible to ensure that the by-product acids contain virtually no acetic acid, acetyl chloride, or sulfuric acid, which can significantly reduce the consumption of acetic acid as well as energy usage. The old process still needs further improvements in terms of technological aspects.
This situation is quite common in Hebei; it would be great if new technological methods could be applied to treat exhaust gases.
Sulfur method? An additional stage of falling film absorption can be added; the first stage is used for treatment with sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, while the second stage contains almost no sulfuric acid, allowing the production of chlorocyclohexane.
