Thread Content
In soda ash production, what is the main component of the light ash collected from the calciner off-gas?Specifications:
Total alkali content (expressed as Na2CO3) ≥ 99.2%
Chlorides (expressed as NaCl) ≤ 0.25–0.4%
Iron (expressed as Fe2O3) ≤ 0.004%
Insoluble matter in water ≤ 0.04%
Loss on ignition ≤ 0.5%
Bulk density (kg/m³): 900–1000
Uses:
One of the important basic chemical raw materials. It is widely used in fields such as chemical engineering, metallurgy, national defense, textiles, dyeing and printing, food, glass, enamel, pharmaceuticals, and papermaking. Production method:
(1) Ammonia-soda process (Solvay process)
Using crude salt and limestone as raw materials, light soda ash is produced through chemical synthesis; heavy soda ash is then produced via solid-phase hydration. (2) Natural soda ash method
Using natural soda ash as raw material, heavy-duty and light-duty soda ash are produced through evaporation or carbonation methods. Characteristics of light-duty soda ash: It appears as a white powder or fine granular crystals; it is anhydrous, readily soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is alkaline. At room temperature, when exposed to air, it absorbs CO2 and water while releasing heat, gradually transforming into NaHCO3 and forming lumps. Molecular formula: Na2CO3
