Article GB50160 states that the distance between the loading/unloading crane position and the buffer tank should be no less than 5 meters, while the distance between elevated tanks should be no less than 0.6 meters. What are buffer tanks and elevated tanks, and what is the purpose of installing them? Is it necessary to use flexible hoses for transporting 98% acid by train and truck? Where are the strict regulations? Can it be pumped directly from the tank area to the loading arm for loading? Is it still necessary to install a buffer high-level tank at the loading and unloading station?
It’s a crane-mounted type, not the common overhead piping type you might be thinking of; sulfuric acid is generally transported using lower-mounted tanks.
Thank you. Cars can be loaded and unloaded, but the trains currently in use do not allow for such loading and unloading. Since both trains and cars need to be used, I’m thinking of setting up a loading platform with two transfer pipes. Is it necessary to use a pump to transfer the liquid from the storage tank, along with an additional high-level buffer tank connected to those transfer pipes? Can we just pump it directly and connect the flexible hose?
Can the train pier and the car pier be used together? Trains on one side of the track, cars on the other side of the road? I’ve never seen it; the standards I’ve encountered are all different. GB50160 is primarily applicable to fire protection regulations for flammable and explosive substances such as combustible liquids and liquefied hydrocarbons, and it is not applicable to concentrated sulfuric acid. You should consult the relevant regulations, guidelines for hazardous chemicals, or local standards.

The loading equipment we use is the same kind used for loading oil products before. If it’s not fuming sulfuric acid, there’s no need for lower protective clothing, right?
