For zinc smelting to produce acid, there are two systems in use; they have been operational for 18 years now, and the equipment is quite old, designed in Germany. Electrostatic demisting has also been in use for 18 years. In the past two years, its performance has deteriorated steadily, with increasingly poor results. Overall, both the secondary voltage and current are low and unstable, often preventing it from functioning properly. Exhaust smoke has been present over the past two years as well, and it is relatively heavy. From a technical perspective, the dry absorption and conversion processes are working well; aside from air leakage in unit 4, the exhaust levels are high (it’s not clear how much this affects the exhaust smoke). From a equipment perspective, the acid separator has also just been replaced with a new one, and the packing and other components were replaced as part of the maintenance work. Apart from the poor performance of electrostatic demisting, no condensation acid is generated, and the exhaust smoke levels remain high.
