Recently, some catalyst manufacturers in the industry have proposed to take on the operation of the converters in sulfuric acid plants, with control targets such as conversion rate and maintenance costs; some customers are interested in this. There are manufacturers in the industry that offer maintenance services for acid pumps. For individual moving equipment, it has advantages to have the manufacturer carry out the maintenance, but close cooperation with the factory’s inspection staff is required. The conversion process cannot be carried out independently of the purification and dry absorption steps in acid production; if the purification parameters are not within the specified range, the catalyst will become poisoned, and too low a temperature at the exit of the dry absorption tower will also affect the conversion temperature. If the operation of the entire sulfuric acid plant is contracted out, that would be more feasible; such a model already exists in China. In my opinion, domestic catalyst manufacturers currently do not have the capability to operate sulfuric acid plants, unless they bring in talent from such plants.
