Emergency plan for sulfur dioxide leaks?
Prevention and control measures for SO2 and SO3 leaks: In sulfuric acid production, leaks of SO2 and SO3 occur frequently. To minimize the environmental damage and casualties caused by such leaks, preventive measures for abnormal and emergency situations have been established. I. Reasons for SO2 and SO3 leaks: 1. Leaks in the equipment or process pipelines within the system. 2. Leaks at the manholes and exhaust pipes in the dry absorption process. 3. Leaks occur due to positive pressure in the baking and purification zones when the system is shut down. 4. Air leakage in the tail suction tower. II. Measures to prevent SO2 and SO3 leaks: (I) Measures for handling abnormal situations: 1. In the event of a leak in equipment or process pipelines within the conversion system: If it can be handled while the plant is operating, contact the plant’s maintenance staff to deal with it; during this process, it is necessary to wear a Type 7 gas mask as well as other protective equipment. 2. For leaks at the dry suction manhole, the exhaust pipe, and the tail suction tower during the dry suction process: under operating conditions, contact the anti-corrosion personnel to locate and repair the leaks, as well as to clear the negative pressure pipes. 3. In the event of air leakage due to positive pressure in the roasting and purification sections during system shutdown, the valves at each leakage point should be closed promptly or the leaks should be sealed up. (II) Leaks in emergency situations: When there is a significant leak in the system, resulting in widespread leakage that could cause environmental pollution or pose a threat to human safety, such situations are considered leaks in emergency conditions. The corrective actions are as follows: 1. The operator shall immediately report to the shift leader, who will then organize an emergency shutdown of the system and inform the control room at the same time. 2. The team leader should organize the personnel to evacuate, ensure that they are wearing protective equipment, and lead them in checking the site to see if anyone has been poisoned, while also keeping track of the number of people on duty.
