In the gas-phase process for polypropylene, is the MFR of the pellets lower than that of the powder during production? I’m asking fellow travelers to help analyze this

Under normal circumstances, there should be no significant changes in the melt index of granules. Degradation occurs during extrusion granulation; a high MFR is understandable, but if it’s low, there might be an issue with the analysis. When analyzing the MFR of powder materials, was an antioxidant added, or wasn’t enough of it added? In the past, at our company, analysts used blended antioxidants (30%) added to the extruded material for MFR testing, which resulted in a significantly high melt flow rate

The values obtained after adding the tube material compound are about 0.05–0.07 lower than those of the powder form; in short, they are not normal
I think it’s mainly a matter of the antioxidant dosage. If we consider only the MFR, more or less antioxidants will affect this value. If the MFR is low in some cases, analytical errors could be taken into account; after all, errors related to low melt index are relatively larger, and it should be determined through weighing the sliced material. For the materials we produce, the melt index after granulation generally shows little variation, usually being slightly on the high side
