I understand that in some cases, the reverse movement is fully activated when the pressure pump shuts down due to interlock; Some do not use interlocking, but are only linked to the unit’s anti-surge system.

Fully closed is also acceptable; a flare is placed at the inlet, and a safety valve is available at the outlet

Are the backflow prevention and anti-surge functions you’re talking about referring to the same valve? I recall that in our catalytic compressor safety interlocks, the valve controlling the flare is opened fully, while there is no interlock for anti-surge functionality.
