The main air flow indication had a large deviation; inspection revealed severe water accumulation. The flow rate is measured using a Venturi meter; the pressure tapping pipes are not insulated. There are 3 interlock measurement points plus 1 indicator measurement point, and some of these measurement points suffer from severe water accumulation. In previous winters, there was water involved, but basically not in other seasons. What is the cause of the water accumulation? How should it be dealt with? Is it necessary to add insulation to the pressure tap pipe?
Some argue that compressed air is drawn from the atmosphere, which always contains a certain amount of water vapor. Large-diameter orifice flow meters used to measure compressed air flow often have water accumulation in front of the orifice, which affects the measurement accuracy. There is often a layer of water in the pressure tap pipe, which causes the differential pressure measured by the differential pressure transmitter to differ from the differential pressure generated by the throttling device. These are all common causes of errors resulting from water in the air. It seems to make some sense.

We have encountered similar situations here; during normal operation, the issue can only be resolved by periodically shutting off the water supply. After the shutdown, all the lead-out sections of the measurement points were angled at 45° upward to prevent water accumulation in those sections, and no similar problems occurred thereafter.
