Recently, Tianjin Petrochemical applied slurry dewatering technology for the first time, successfully carrying out pilot production of carbon black feedstock oil. This process converted low-value catalytic slurry into carbon black feedstock oil, enabling diversified uses of such catalytic slurry and meeting market demands. By the end of May, 1,206 tons of carbon black feedstock had been loaded and shipped to customers. During the oil refining process, catalytic cracking units produce catalytic slurry, which serves as a component in the formulation of marine fuel oils. It is also an excellent raw material for producing chemical products such as carbon black, needle coke, carbon fibers, plastic plasticizers, road asphalt, and heat transfer oils. Previously, the catalytic slurry from Tianjin Petrochemical was sent as raw material to downstream delayed coking units for processing. In order to improve quality and efficiency and tap potential further, Tianjin Petrochemical adopted the inorganic membrane solid-removal purification technology for catalytic slurry, jointly developed by Dalian Research Institute of Petroleum Chemistry and Jiangsu Sairui Meko New Materials Co., Ltd., to successfully produce carbon black feedstock oil, thereby significantly increasing the economic value of the catalytic slurry. This trial production verified the feasibility of the process for producing carbon black feedstock oil using catalytic slurry as raw material, thereby accumulating experience for future large-scale production of such carbon black feedstock oil. At the same time, it reduces the load on the delayed coking unit and the costs associated with secondary processing. During the trial production period, Tianjin Petrochemical continuously adjusted the operating parameters of the slurry dewatering equipment in Unit 2 for delayed coking, and optimized the blending strategies in the tank farm, so as to ensure that the carbon black feedstock products met the quality standards.
