Recently, the 1 million tons per year continuous reforming unit in Workshop 3 of Yulin Refining & Chemical Complex, along with its regeneration chlorine injection system, has become more stable in operation, resulting in a significant reduction in the frequency of pump maintenance. It is reported that the precious metal reforming catalyst used in the 1 million tons per year continuous reforming unit has reached the later stages of its operational life, and the chlorine content in the catalyst has decreased significantly compared to earlier periods. In order to maintain an optimal balance between water and chlorine during the final stages of operation of the unit, the workshop attaches great importance to the chlorine injection process; it calibrates the pumps used for chlorine injection and specifies the amount of chlorine to be injected for each shift. The staff responsible for this task keep detailed records of the dosage injected into the system, while the technical personnel adjust the amounts based on the test results, thereby ensuring that the water-chlorine balance in the reaction system remains optimal. During the inspection, the personnel on duty noticed that the capacity of the regeneration chlorine injection pump had decreased. After investigating the cause of the pump, the technicians found that the check valve at the pump’s outlet was severely blocked. Analyzing the source of the impurities, it was determined that the aging of the chlorine injection system, along with corrosion in the pipelines and resulting impurities, were likely to be the reasons affecting the pump’s operation. The workshop immediately organized the cleaning of the chlorine injection tank, completely replacing the aged reagents, and replaced certain sections with stainless steel seamless pipes made of corrosion-resistant materials, chosen based on the physical and chemical properties of the reagents, in order to reduce the impurities generated by the corrosion of carbon steel pipelines by the medium. After cleaning the pipelines, replacing the reagents, and changing the stainless steel pipes and elbows, the amount of chlorine used for regeneration gradually stabilized. The equipment maintenance rate dropped significantly, and production costs were effectively controlled. The \"Four Minor Issues\" management approach addressed the fundamental problems of the equipment by targeting their root causes, and the level of control over preventing \"clogged pipelines\" improved.
