Are more requirements performance requirements or investment cost requirements? The main consideration is still the specifics of the project and the conditions of the power grid. In a previous project, in order to reduce costs, three 10kV motors were used, with autotransformer starting for a 1-to-3 drive configuration

We have 10kV, 4000kw air compressor motors; the magnetically controlled soft starters used in the past did not perform well, and various problems arose with them after several years of operation. It was later replaced with a high-voltage solid-state soft starter, and it has been operating well for the past two years. As for driving one vehicle to pull two, there’s no theoretical problem with that; driving one vehicle to pull multiple vehicles is also fine, it’s just a matter of whether you’re willing to make the investment. During startup, the soft starter operates on a short-time basis; adding a switching device enables multi-load functionality.
For the reduced-voltage starting of large motors like this, water resistors are a suitable choice – they are inexpensive, do not cause harmonic currents, but require more space for installation.
Our company’s 1600kw air compressors use Changsha Aoto high-voltage solid-state soft starters; they have been in use for almost 4 years now and are functioning properly.
Several parameters are required for selecting the starting device of large high-voltage motors. 1. Capacity of the transformers on-site and remaining power capacity. 2. Capacity of transformers in the upstream substation and remaining power capacity. 3. Length of transmission lines and wire gauge. 4. Whether speed control is required for the motors. 5. Whether investment considerations are necessary. 6. Whether site considerations are necessary. Large-scale high-voltage power distribution requires comprehensive consideration; it’s not something that can be decided simply based on experience
