I am not a specialist in electrical motors, but I have a question regarding motors. Our facility has a fan whose designed operating conditions are higher than those under actual operation; we plan to modify the fan. The original motor was 380V rated with a power of 315 KW and it was variable frequency type. After selecting a new fan, only a motor with a power of 110 KW is required, at the same speed. Is it necessary to replace the motor? If the original motor is used and operated with a large motor driving a small load, what is the power loss and how is it calculated? Thank you all

There’s no need to change it, right? Can’t the air damper be adjusted? Can the intake and exhaust air not be controlled together? . . . . . .
Just take a look at a sample motor – you’ll see that different motors have varying efficiency levels, with differences of just a few percentage points. You also need to check the energy efficiency rating of your motors; in many places, it’s now mandatory to replace motors with higher efficiency ones. Don’t end up having to replace the motor again in just a few days
Personally, I think it’s better to replace the motor; the power difference between 315KW and 110KW motors is too large. The 110KW motors aren’t very expensive these days, and since they are efficient, the cost of the motor will be recouped in just a few years.
