Difference between automatic and manual switches

For starting the pumps on-site, we generally have automatic and manual modes as well as a zero position. Usually, we start them in manual mode before switching to automatic mode. I would like to ask everyone about the differences between automatic and manual starting on-site, as well as the difference related to the zero position. Will the pump stop if it is set to the zero position while it is running?

Automatic: requires signal control at the site; manual: of course, it is started and stopped manually; zero position: generally, it cannot be started or stopped either manually or automatically.
