Structural principle of two-way elevator speed limiter

Working principle and safety inspection of elevator speed limiters. A speed limiter is a device that prevents the elevator car or counterweight from running at excessive speeds; as an important component of the elevator’s protection against overspeed and loss of control, the role of speed limiters in elevators is crucial. When the elevator reaches the speed at which the speed governor activates, the safety switch of the speed governor operates, breaking the control circuit and causing the elevator to stop running. At that time, the governor wire rope uses the friction force of the pulley or a rope-clamping mechanism to lift the safety gear linkage system mounted on the car beam; the safety gear then activates, forcing the car to stop on the guide rails, while the safety gear lift rod operates the safety switch. The elevator can only be restarted after all safety switches have been reset.
