For a hydrogen filling station, fire and explosion prevention are of utmost importance; therefore, all tools used on site must be specialized explosion-proof tools. But the hydrogen filling station I saw didn’t even have any measures to protect against sunlight; it seems that there’s no need for sun protection, right? I would like to ask everyone what safety, fire prevention, and explosion protection requirements and measures are necessary for hydrogen filling stations. It indeed does not mention the need to protect against exposure to direct sunlight; only ventilation is emphasized. In the [H2 Hydrogen Station Safety Standards], only customer storage areas require protection from direct sunlight.
Hydrogen filling stations need to be equipped with shading measures; lightning protection, grounding, and static electricity bonding systems must be reliable. There should also be an effective combustible gas monitoring system as well as a good metering system to prevent overfilling. The stations must be airtight, and copper tools should be used
What we have available now include separate compartments, isolation fences, warning signs, explosion-proof tools, lightning protection facilities, anti-static measures, video surveillance systems, fire extinguishers and fire protection networks, portable hydrogen detectors, as well as fixed hydrogen detection and alarm systems in the site. There are also management measures, including operating procedures, inspection systems, and safety responsibilities at various levels. It’s the lack of sun protection facilities; it is said this is to avoid hydrogen accumulation. While moving equipment is equipped with sunshades, stationary equipment is left exposed to the elements.
