Our company has a DEI water production system equipped with RO membranes with a capacity of 10 T/h. Initially, hydrogen peroxide was used for sterilization; however, after some time of operation, bacteria were still found in the water. Subsequently, sodium hypochlorite was used for sterilization, and after another period of operation, the bacteria were under control, but the membranes were damaged. There are specialized sterilants for RO membranes, and they are non-oxidizing. Oxidizing agents are highly destructive to membranes; with hydrogen peroxide, the membrane will eventually be damaged as well.
