Calculate and verify the operation of the meter: The meter should be calculated and verified after it has been in use for a period of time. Sometimes, even if the wiring is incorrect, it is difficult to detect this merely by observing the operation of the electricity meter; in such cases, calculations must be made based on the power of the load, the power factor, and the operating time. The results of these calculations are then compared with the meter readings in order to confirm the proper functioning of the meter.
