For artificial respiration, the number of breaths should be 15–20 times; continuous blowing is required, with a breathing rate of 12 times per minute for adults, 15 times per minute for children, and 20 times per minute for infants. In comatose patients or those with stopped heartbeats, after removing foreign objects from the airway and clearing the respiratory tract using manual methods, if there is no spontaneous breathing, artificial respiration should be initiated immediately to ensure a continuous supply of oxygen to the patient and prevent irreversible damage to vital organs due to hypoxia. As long as we provide the patient with a volume of air during artificial respiration that is slightly greater than normal, ensuring that the absolute oxygen level is not lower than that during spontaneous breathing, it is possible to guarantee an adequate oxygen supply to the body’s vital organs, thereby preventing damage to these critical organs due to oxygen deficiency.
