The EDI pure water system used in pharmaceutical ultra-pure water equipment, also known as continuous electrodesalination, integrates electrodialysis technology with ion exchange technology. By taking advantage of the selective permeability of cations and anions, as well as the ion-exchange capacity of ion exchange resins, and under the influence of an electric field, the ions in water are directed to migrate, thereby achieving thorough removal of impurities and salts from the water. Additionally, hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions generated through water electrolysis are used to continuously regenerate the filled resins; hence, no acid or alkali chemicals are required for the regeneration process in an EDI pure water system.
