The post titled “Sinopec’s first shipment of crude oil will arrive for unloading on May 8” sparked many discussions; so, what is Sinopec’s port like? Let’s go take a look together. 【HaiChuan Chemical Salary Updates】The first shipment of crude oil from Sinopec Refining will arrive for unloading on May 8th. https://bbs.hcbbs.com/thread-2978485-1-1.html

The dock project for the Sinopec Refining and Chemicals project is located on the north shore of the Donghai Island port area in Zhanjiang Port, to the west of the Zhanjiang steel complex. The total length of the docks is 2,389 meters, with a designed annual handling capacity of 34 million tons in the short term and 36.7 million tons in the long term. In the first phase of the project, 8 docks will be built, including one dock capable of handling 300,000 tons of crude oil and docks capable of handling 100,000 tons of refined oil. It is currently the largest dock project under construction in China in terms of scale, as well as having the most diverse structural designs and functional purposes. The port facility is divided into two parts: the inshore port and the offshore port. The inshore port includes a total of 7 berths, namely a 5,000-ton capacity berth for liquid chemicals, a 5,000-ton capacity berth for liquid hydrocarbons, a 10,000-ton capacity berth for liquid chemicals, a 100,000-ton capacity berth for refined oil products, a 70,000-ton capacity berth for coal, a 5,000-ton capacity berth for general cargo (heavy cargo), and a berth for workboats. The offshore port features a 300,000-ton capacity berth for crude oil.
The terminal for the Sinochem Refining project is located in the Donghai Island port area of Zhanjiang Port. So, how large is Zhanjiang Port?

It is the main port of the port cluster along the southwest coast of our country, an important deep-water port in South China, and the primary distribution center for bulk commodities such as energy and raw materials in the southern part of the country. It currently has waterways capable of handling 300,000 tons, and is the port in the South China coastal region with the best navigation conditions as well as the best facilities for unloading crude oil, iron ore, coal, and containers. The liquid chemicals business is operated by Zhanjiang Port Petrochemical Terminal Co., Ltd. (Zhanjiang Petrochemical).

The handling of crude oil at Zhanjiang Port takes place mainly in the Xiashan port area, which has 14 berths for crude oil and refined products. The annual handling capacity is 41.98 million tons; among these, there are two large land-based VLCC oil terminals with a capacity of 300,000 tons each, giving a designed annual handling capacity of over 30 million tons. It generally takes 2-3 days to unload one VLCC.

CNPC Zhanjiang Fuel Oil Depot has a total crude oil storage capacity of 1.2 million cubic meters; it is primarily used for transshipment and storage, not for the local refineries in the vicinity, with only a small portion of the oil supplied to refineries in South China. 2. Sinopec Zhanjiang Commercial Storage Oil Tank Farm, with a total storage capacity of 2.15 million cubic meters; it primarily serves Sinopec’s refineries. 3. The port area has its own storage facilities with a total capacity of 678,000 cubic meters, of which 308,000 cubic meters are dedicated to refined oil products and chemical substances. 4. The Zhanjiang facility project of AVIC Oil Group, with a total storage capacity of 920,000 cubic meters, is primarily intended to meet the internal needs of AVIC Oil Group.
How does the oil leave the tank area? Apart from a small portion that is transported via domestic small boats and waterway transit, it is mainly delivered to users through oil pipelines. 1. The Zhanmao crude oil pipeline is 115 kilometers long, with a transport capacity of 8 million tons per year. It starts at Zhanjiang, passes through Lianjiang, and ends at the refining complex of Maoming Petrochemical. 2. Zhanbei Crude Oil Pipeline (Zhanjiang–Tieshangang), with a total length of 198 kilometers and a transport capacity of 10 million tons per year; the starting station is in Zhanjiang, the intermediate station is in Lianjiang, and the final station is Beihai Petrochemical. 3. Refined oil pipelines, of which: the Pearl River Delta refined oil pipeline has a total length of 1,135 kilometers and a transport capacity of 12 million tons per year ; The refined oil pipeline leading to Kunming in the southwest has a total length of 1,740 kilometers and a transport capacity of 10 million tons per year. The Zhanlian refined oil pipeline is 162 kilometers long, with a transport capacity of 6 million tons per year; it runs from the Zhongke refinery to the Lianjiang injection station, transporting oils such as 92# gasoline, 95# gasoline, vehicle diesel, and regular diesel.
Which refineries are the main ones served? 1. Maoming Petrochemical has a refining capacity of 25.5 million tons per year, and an ethylene production capacity of 1.1 million tons per year. 2. Beihai Refining & Chemical (Sinopec), with a crude oil processing capacity of 5 million tons per year and a polypropylene production capacity of 200,000 tons per year. 3. Qinzhou Oil Refinery in Guangxi (CNPC), with an annual processing capacity of 10 million tons. 4. Dongxing Refining & Chemical (Sinopec), a refining enterprise with a crude oil processing capacity of 5 million tons per year. 5. Zhongke Refining & Chemical, with a petroleum refining capacity of 10 million tons per year in its first phase, and an ethylene production capacity of 800,000 tons per year ; The capacity in the second phase is doubled, with a designed refining capacity of 15 million tons per year and an ethylene production capacity of 1 million tons per year.
There has always been a problem: this pier is located far away from the dock, relying on just a few piles; could a ship weighing 300,000 tons cause damage by simply resting against it?
It turns out that the raw materials for Maoming are mainly supplied from Zhanjiang
