On October 8, the inauguration ceremony for the 270,000/600,000 tons per year propylene oxide/styrene (including ethylbenzene) production facility (referred to as the POSM facility) as part of Guangxi Petrochemical’s integration and transformation project was held at Qinzhou Port. The Guangxi Petrochemical Integration and Upgrading Project is a major project under the petrochemical industry development plan. It is also a strategic initiative by China National Petroleum Corporation to shift the focus from oil production to chemical production in order to adjust the industry structure. This project holds great significance for reshaping the petrochemical industry and its structural layout in Guangxi and Qinzhou cities, enhancing the scale and concentration of the petrochemical industry, and promoting the optimization and upgrading of related processing industries. The POSM unit of the Guangxi Petrochemical project is the first of its kind in China National Petroleum Corporation that has been independently designed, purchased, and constructed; therefore, completing the construction of this POSM unit is of great significance. This facility is an important part of Guangxi Petrochemical’s transformation and upgrading project; it improves the range of downstream products and enriches the industrial chain, and it also holds significant significance for the overall implementation of the project. The POSM plant has a capacity of 270,000 tons per year for propylene oxide and 600,000 tons per year for styrene. Its total floor area is 151,435 square meters. It consists of various units including those for ethylbenzene processing, peroxide treatment, epoxidation, PO purification, phenylethanol dehydration, styrene purification, hydrogenation, environmental protection systems, utility and auxiliary facilities, furnace areas, plant tank areas, on-site cabinet rooms, and plant substations. This device requires a large amount of work and complex manufacturing processes, imposing high demands on both professional construction skills and management capabilities. 、
