7 chemical-related projects won the 2022–2023 China Construction Project Luban Award. On December 10, 2023, the winners of the 2022–2023 China Construction Project Luban Award (**high-quality projects**) were announced in Beijing. Reporters from China Chemical Industry News found that among the 246 award-winning projects, 7 were related to the chemical industry. These 7 chemical-related projects are as follows: Plant No. 1 for the project producing 13,000 tons per year of high-energy-density cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries; the project in Yinchuan Economic and Technological Development Zone for manufacturing 15 GW worth of monocrystalline silicon rods per year; the first phase of the expansion project for automotive lithium-ion battery cathode materials carried out by Hunan Changyuan Lithium Technology; the technological upgrade project for photovoltaic silicon materials at Sichuan Yongxiang New Energy Co., Ltd. (Phase 2: high-purity crystalline silicon production); the first phase of the coking integration and upgrading project along with associated gas utilization projects carried out by Henan Liyuan New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.; the Caojiatan Coal Mine project in the Yushen mining area of Shaanxi; and the first phase of the construction project of the Sinopec Research Center for Science and Technology (the research portion). These include 4 new energy materials projects, 1 coking project, 1 coal mine project, and 1 research project. The reporter noted that among the award-winning chemical-related projects, two of them – Sichuan Yongxiang New Energy Co., Ltd.’s photovoltaic silicon material manufacturing upgrade project (Phase II high-purity crystalline silicon project) and the Caojiatan Coal Mine project in the Yushen Mining Area in Shaanxi – were constructed by chemical construction companies. According to China National Chemical Engineering Corporation Sixth Construction Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CNCEC Sixth Construction), the contractor for Sichuan Yongxiang New Energy Co., Ltd.’s photovoltaic silicon material manufacturing upgrade project (Phase II: high-purity crystalline silicon project), this project is a key construction project in Sichuan Province and a core component of Leshan’s \"100-billion-yuan green silicon valley\" initiative. It utilizes the fifth-generation Yongxiang method and cold hydrogenation technology, which are covered by independent intellectual property rights, to produce electronic-grade high-purity crystalline silicon. Nie Shugang, director of the project management department at Sinochem Sixth Construction, told reporters that the project’s core distillation unit, cold hydrogenation unit, and auxiliary systems were constructed by Sinochem Sixth Construction, with completion achieved on December 31, 2021. Following the brand construction standards of \"excellent quality, intrinsic safety, meticulous management, superior service, good efficiency, and high customer satisfaction,\" Sinochem Sixth Construction successfully met all the scheduled goals in a safe and efficient manner, earning high recognition from the client. It is reported that Sinochem Sixth Construction has won 8 Luban Awards. During the construction of the Caojiatan Coal Mine project in the Yushen Mining Area of Shaanxi, the contractor, Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Construction (Group) Co., Ltd., actively promoted the use of new technologies, equipment, processes, and materials. It adopted 14 innovative technologies and processes specific to modern mine construction, as well as 5 innovative techniques for the installation of mechanical and electrical equipment. For the first time, it also utilized key technologies and equipment for rapid tunneling in large-diameter coal roads, enabling the formation of the tunnel cross-section in one go and allowing for simultaneous operations of tunneling, support work, and slag transportation. This approach ensured simultaneous progress in tunneling, support, and transportation, and it set a national record with a maximum monthly tunneling advance of 2,355 meters in a tunnel with a large cross-section of 41.25 square meters. In addition, non-chemical engineering projects undertaken or participated in by various chemical engineering companies have won awards. These include the new campus project of Taizhou Hospital carried out by Sinochem Shuguang Construction Company, the large-scale low-speed wind tunnel construction project in which China National Chemical Engineering Corporation Fourth Construction Co., Ltd. was involved, and the expansion and renovation project of the Jinan-Qingdao highway carried out by Sinochem Transportation Construction Group Co., Ltd. Wang Hui, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, said that enterprises should always prioritize building quality, make significant efforts to improve design standards and construction quality, and replace large volumes of inefficient output with high-quality products. It is necessary to establish a systematic risk management framework and enhance information management capabilities. Additionally, there should be accelerated adoption of technological advancements to drive industrial upgrading, promote advanced technologies in smart construction, and jointly develop Internet platforms for the construction industry. The Luban Prize for Chinese Construction Projects (**High-Quality Projects**) is the highest honor representing the quality of construction projects in China’s construction industry. It is awarded under the guidance of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, with selection organized by the China Construction Industry Association, and the award is given every two years.
The application, re-examination, evaluation, and approval process for the first batch of China Construction Engineering Luban Awards (**High-Quality Projects**) for the 2022–2023 period has been completed. The list of projects that were selected has been made public, with the public display period running from November 28, 2022, to December 4, 2022. A total of 119 projects this time,
