On May 11, 2024, the integrated lifting of the key equipment for the purification unit in Xinjiang Zhongtai’s demonstration project for the upgraded production of methanol through comprehensive resource utilization was successfully completed – specifically, the 81-meter-tall unconverted gas washing tower. This marked the full commencement of the lifting work for the core equipment of the purification unit. The Xinjiang Zhongtai Comprehensive Resource Utilization for Methanol Production Upgrade Demonstration Project is located in Tongxin Industrial Park, Aleiwei Town, Toksun County, Xinjiang. The project primarily involves the construction of a production line capable of producing 1 million tons per year of methanol and 18,900 tons per year of sulfuric acid. It includes the installation of air separation units, gasification units, low-temperature methanol washing units for syngas purification, methanol synthesis units, as well as various supporting facilities. Shaanxi Chemical Construction was responsible for the lifting of 102 different types of equipment and 34 bridges in the areas related to the methanol unit, gasification unit, purification unit, and air separation unit, with a total weight of 12,839 tons. The unshifted gas washing tower is one of the four key pieces of equipment in this facility; its lifting weight is 551 tons, with a diameter of 2.6 meters and a height of 81 meters. The small diameter, long length of the equipment, and heavy weight posed challenges during the lifting process. To ensure that the lifting work was carried out to a high standard, the lifting company’s project team carefully analyzed the characteristics of the equipment, took into account the actual conditions on site and the available construction equipment, and prepared a detailed construction plan in advance to facilitate efficient preparation for the lifting operations.
