With a total investment of 33 billion yuan, the first large-scale tower equipment for Sichuan Yongying New Materials project has been lifted into place! 150,000 tons of BDO is expected to come online in October. 2024-05-17 Recently, at the construction site of the first phase of Sichuan Yongying New Materials Co., Ltd.’s project for an integrated production chain of 800,000 tons per year of functional new materials, the absorption tower for the 50,000 tons per year acetylene production unit using natural gas stood tall as part of Phase 1. Workers worked together with cranes to install various large-scale equipment (as shown in the image). “This is the first large-scale tower equipment installed in the construction of the natural gas-to-acetylene plant at Sichuan Yongying Acetylene Branch Factory; it weighs 145 tons, is 67.2 meters tall, and has a maximum diameter of 3.2 meters. ”According to the workers in charge of the lifting operation on site, the primary desorption tower that was lifted this time will weigh 145 tons in total after all installations are completed. There is also a main absorption tower, which is 54.63 meters tall and has a maximum diameter of 3.6 meters; its total weight is 118 tons, which poses significant challenges for the lifting process. The successful lifting of the absorption tower used in the concentration unit process marks progress in the construction of this project. The reporter learned that since the start of construction on this project, more than 2,500 workers have been working overtime in shifts in the morning and evening, and over 100 machines are being used at full capacity for the construction work. Chen Jiansheng, deputy general manager of Sichuan Yongying New Materials Co., Ltd., said that going forward, the company’s project team will focus all its efforts on specialized tasks such as the installation of process pipelines and the calibration of electrical instruments. It is reported that after more than a year of intensive construction for the Yongying New Materials project, over 70% of the total work has been completed on Phase 1, Line A of the project, which involves a BDO production facility with an annual capacity of 150,000 tons along with related supporting facilities. Trial production and commissioning are expected to begin in October this year. The 800,000-ton integrated industrial chain project for functional new materials involves a total investment of 33 billion yuan. It is located in the Hexi Chemical Park of Nanchong Economic Development Zone, and the natural gas acrolein process is used to produce 600,000 tons per year of BDO, 500,000 tons per year of PBAT, and 300,000 tons per year of spandex. The project will be implemented in three phases: Phase 1 involves production capacities of 300,000 tons per year of BDO, 60,000 tons per year of PBAT, and 60,000 tons per year of PTMEG ; Phase 2: 300,000 tons/year BDO production capacity ; Phase 3: Using the BDO produced in Phases 1 and 2 as raw material, the project will expand downstream to build the remaining PBAT plants, PTMEG plants, and spandex plants. One phase of this project is constructed in two lines, A and B: Line A includes a facility for producing acetylene from natural gas at a capacity of 50,000 tons per year, a facility for producing formaldehyde from acetylene waste gas at a capacity of 2×240,000 tons per year, and a 150,000-ton-per-year facility for producing 1,4-butanediol. In addition, there are supporting utility and environmental protection systems, as well as service facilities such as a production control center, a cultural center, a management center, and an innovation center ; Line B includes 50,000 tons per year of acetylene produced from natural gas, 240,000 tons per year of formaldehyde produced from acetylene off-gases, a 150,000 tons per year 1,4-butanediol production facility, a 60,000 tons per year PBAT production facility, and a 60,000 tons per year PTMEG production facility, along with the associated utility and environmental protection systems. According to the project plan, the construction progress of Route A and Route B differs by about half a year.
Project Review: On April 11, 2022, the People’s Government of Nanchong City, the Management Committee of Nanchong Economic Development Zone, and Yongrong Holding Group signed an investment agreement. In June 2022, the draft environmental impact assessment report for the first phase of Sichuan Yongying New Materials Co., Ltd.’s project to establish an integrated industrial chain for the production of 800,000 tons per year of functional new materials was made public. The environmental impact report shows that Yongrong Group plans to use natural gas as a raw material and the alkyne-aldehyde process to produce BDO, while also expanding into downstream industries through the implementation of the \"800,000-ton integrated industrial chain project for functional new materials.\" On the morning of June 30, 2022, the first phase of Yongying New Materials’ integrated industrial chain project for the production of 800,000 tons per year of functional new materials was officially launched in Nanchong Economic Development Zone. On July 5, 2022, the Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission issued its review opinions on the energy-saving report for the first phase of the project aimed at establishing an integrated industrial chain for the production of 800,000 tons per year of functional new materials by Sichuan Yongying New Materials Co., Ltd. (Document No. Chuan Fa Gai Huan Zi Han [2022] 544), granting preliminary approval to the said energy-saving report. On August 11, 2022, China National Chemical Engineering Sixth Construction Co., Ltd. (referred to as “CNCEC Sixth Construction”) signed a PC general contract for Sections I/II of Sichuan Yongying New Materials Co., Ltd.
