How is the number of ethylene spheres to be installed determined? In accordance with the SH 3007 \"Code for Design of Tank Areas in Storage and Transportation Systems of Petrochemical Enterprises\", and taking into account the actual conditions of the enterprise, to meet the requirements for startup, shutdown, and adjustments during unstable operation of the production units, when ethylene products are used as intermediate storage tanks for downstream units within the enterprise, the total storage volume is generally set at 3 to 5 days’ worth of consumption for those downstream units. Currently, the storage capacity of a single ethylene sphere tank ranges from 1,000 to 3,000 m³. For a 150 kt/a ethylene plant, to ensure a 3-day inventory of ethylene product, 17 tanks with a capacity of 2,000 m³ each are required.
150kt/a ethylene plant? Ethylene plants of this scale have been phased out; today, the scale of such plants ranges from 1200 kt/a to 1500 kt/a.
