The 25th National “Safety Production Month” in 2026: Everyone should talk about safety and know how to handle emergencies; identify and rectify potential risks and hazards. -------------------------------------------------- [HaiChuan Building Design Review] Summary Post – Understand design review requirements and improve standardized design: https://bbs.hcbbs.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=5721370 (Source: HaiChuan Chemical Industry Forum (HCBBS)). ==================================================== The key guidelines for intermediate warehouses are the “Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings (2018 Edition)” GB 50016-2014 and the “General Code for Fire Protection of Buildings” (GB 55037-2022). Definition of intermediate warehouse: According to Article 3.3.6 of GB 50016-2014, an intermediate warehouse is a place within a factory building where raw materials, semi-finished products, and auxiliary materials obtained from warehouses or previous production stages are stored in order to meet the needs of continuous daily production. Intermediate warehouses should not only be located against the exterior wall; when possible, they should also have exits that lead directly outside. 3.3.6 Paragraph 2 of this article is a mandatory provision. Warehouses of categories A, B, and C pose a high risk of fire and significant hazards; therefore, such intermediate warehouses located within factories must be separated by firewalls. For warehouses of categories A and B, additional explosion-proof requirements for the walls are necessary to ensure that in the event of a fire or explosion, the production area is not put at risk. For intermediate warehouses storing Category A and Category B items, due to differences in factory scale and products, the absolute amount required per day varies, making it difficult to establish a specific limit. Therefore, this provision stipulates that the inventory in such intermediate warehouses should be kept as low as possible, within the level of demand for one day. For facilities that require a smaller amount of fuel, such as watch factories that use gasoline for cleaning and need only 20 kg per day and night, the quantity stored can be adjusted to cover 1–2 days and nights; if the daily demand is higher, it must be strictly controlled at the level required for one day and night. The storage of hazardous chemicals also requires compliance with the \"General Rules for the Storage of Hazardous Chemicals in Warehouses\" GB 15603-2022
Acetylene storage: At the site where acetylene cylinders are used, the storage volume of acetylene shall not exceed 30 m³ (equivalent to 5 cylinders, referring to acetylene cylinders with a nominal capacity of 40 L). When the storage volume of acetylene gas exceeds 30 m³, a separate storage area should be created using non-combustible materials, with one side of this area being a solid wall. When the storage volume of acetylene gas exceeds 240 m³ (equivalent to 40 cylinders), a storage facility with a fire resistance rating of not less than grade II should be constructed, and the fire separation distance from other buildings should be no less than 10 m; otherwise, it should be separated by a fire wall. The standard is derived from Clause 4.4.6 of the China National Petroleum Corporation’s enterprise standard \"Safety Management Regulations for the Use of Gas Cylinders\" (Q/SY 1365-2011): When there are ≤5 cylinders on-site (40 L per cylinder, approximately 30 m³ in total), a temporary storage area or intermediate warehouse can be set up inside the workshop, separated from the exterior walls and firewalls. 5 bottles < quantity ≤ 40 bottles (240 m³): A separate room/special storage area is required, with isolation using non-combustible materials and a solid wall on one side. >40 bottles: To be constructed as a separate warehouse of Category A, with fire resistance rating of ≥ Grade 2 and a spacing of ≥ 10m. Requirements for acetylene storage areas/intermediate warehouses: Location: adjacent to the exterior wall, with the pressure relief side facing outward ; Basements / semi-basements are strictly prohibited. ≥15m from open flames/heat sources/sparks ; No fires or flammable materials are allowed within 15m. Maintain a distance of ≥5m from oxygen cylinders, or separate them with a solid explosion-proof wall ; Mixing in the same room is strictly prohibited. Fire separation (intermediate warehouse within the workshop): Fire wall (≥3 hours) + floor slab with a fire resistance of ≥1.5 hours to completely separate it from the production area. Door: Class A fire door, opening outward. Wall: ≥240mm thick non-combustible wall ; No sewers or secret passages. Fire resistance and floor: Fire resistance rating ≥ Grade 2. Floor: spark-free, anti-static, leak-proof (against acetone leakage), with reliable grounding. Doors and windows: outward-opening, light-blocking (frosted glass/painted), to prevent direct sunlight. Flammable curtains are strictly prohibited ; Keep the number of openings as low as possible. Ventilation: mechanical + natural ventilation, with air exchange of ≥8 times per hour. The exhaust outlet should be at a height of ≤30 cm from the ground (acetylene is slightly lighter than air) ; Circulating air is strictly prohibited. Temperature: indoors ≤40°C, preferably ≤30℃ ; Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and heat sources. Electrical explosion protection (IIC rating, designed for acetylene): Lamps, switches, exhaust fans, and junction boxes are all equipped with Ex d IIC explosion protection. The switch is installed outdoors ; The circuit is sealed with explosion-proof steel pipes. Anti-static + lightning protection grounding, with a grounding resistance of ≤4Ω.
