[Haichuan Overseas Engineering] Nigeria PLF-LNG Project

March 2025. The PLF-LNG project in Nigeria – the largest cryogenic storage tank project in Africa – has seen significant progress. The project is undertaken by China National Chemical 14th Construction Corporation, and the pouring of the foundation piles for its No. 2 storage tank has been fully completed, marking the successful achievement of another key milestone in this project. It is reported that the PLF-LNG project in Nigeria is not only the largest LNG storage tank project undertaken by a Chinese company overseas, but also a landmark project that demonstrates the ability for independent design, research and development, and construction. This project has a profound impact on Nigeria’s efforts to optimize its energy structure, promote local economic development, and advance the Belt and Road Initiative. At present, the capacity of Tank No. 2 in the project has reached 200,000 cubic meters, and the successful pouring of the foundation piles for this tank represents an important breakthrough in terms of the key control points of this project.
