Recently, the 500,000-ton-per-year methanol-to-ethanol project at Yulin Kaiyue Coal Chemical, constructed by the Tenth Engineering Company, was successfully completed, marking a milestone achievement for the project. Since the start of the project construction, the project team, with a strong sense of responsibility and mission, has completed the construction of key facilities such as the intermediate tank area, dimethyl ether spherical tanks, the 301 main substation, conversion units, purification units, and the circulating water station to high standards and with high quality, successfully achieving the project milestones. This commissioning has laid a solid foundation for the upcoming trial production. The project team will fully cooperate with the owner to carry out the startup of the facility and the trial production, ensuring the safe, stable, and smooth commissioning of the project.
The total investment in Yulin Kaiyue Coal Chemical’s 500,000 tons per year methanol-to-ethanol project operated by Yanchang Petroleum amounts to 2.793 billion yuan, with a land area of 250 mu. It is a key chemical industry upgrading project in the region. Shaanxi Chemical Construction serves as the main contractor, responsible for the construction of 12 core units including dimethyl ether synthesis and carbonylation processes. Once operational, this project will enhance the regional coal chemical industry chain and contribute to the economic development of the area. Facing challenges such as a tight schedule, heavy workload, and high technical requirements, the project team from Shaanxi Construction managed the entire construction process carefully. Advanced welding and non-destructive testing techniques were used during the installation of equipment and pipelines, while automatic welding equipment was employed to ensure the connection of over 71,000 meters of pipelines. Electrical work was carried out through hierarchical and zonal management, resulting in the installation and connection of over 454,000 meters of cables. The lifting team planned ahead to handle the installation of multiple large-scale pieces of equipment. Thanks to the coordination among various teams and scientific management, the project was completed on schedule
