C1 learned from Huadian Yunnan Power Generation Co., Ltd. that the company’s project involving 2*300,000-kilowatt gas-steam combined cycle generators has been submitted to the **National Development and Reform Commission, and is expected to come online in 2013. It is understood that recently, Huadian Yunnan Power Generation Co., Ltd. and Yunnan CNPC Kunlun Natural Gas Utilization Co., Ltd. signed a Letter of Intent for Cooperation on the Kunming Natural Gas Power Generation Project. Under the agreement, the two parties will jointly construct gas-steam combined cycle power generation units with a capacity of 2*300,000 kilowatts in Kunming. At present, the gasifier project has been submitted to the **Development and Reform Commission for approval. Regarding the gas supply, C1 has learned that the gas for this project will come from the CNPC China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline, with an annual demand of nearly 700 million cubic meters. In addition, CNPC Kunlun Natural Gas Company will be responsible for financing the construction of the natural gas pipeline from the Kunming West distribution station to the gas power plant. “Yunnan currently has 2 natural gas power plant projects, but overall, we are hopeful of becoming the first natural gas power project in Yunnan Province. Thanks to the construction progress of the China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline, the project is expected to be completed and put into operation by 2013. ”The aforementioned person added. According to available information, Huadian Yunnan Power Generation Co., Ltd. was established on June 28, 2005, in Kunming, Yunnan. It is a state-owned company wholly owned by the group company, and its assets consist of those from five power plants operated by the group in Yunnan, including the Lili River Power Plant, as well as the assets of three newly established project companies such as Yunnan Huadian Kunming Power Generation Co., Ltd. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Huadian Group, with a controllable installed capacity of 693,000 kilowatts.
