Insulation thickness of Ailes, an LNG insulation material – seeking advice

Currently, Ales is also being used in the LNG industry. So what is the thickness required for insulation? For example, for DN40 pipes, PIR plus foam glass requires a certain thickness; what about Ales?

If the medium is LNG, for DN40 pipes, the single-sided thickness of the flexible insulation material from the German company Ales is 100 mm; among this, the LTD layer is 50 mm thick (2 layers of 25 mm each), and the LT layer is also 50 mm thick (2 layers of 25 mm each)； If Italy’s K-FLEX flexible insulation material is used, with a thickness of 90 mm on one side, these two types of flexible insulation materials each have their own characteristics.

Aloes from Germany and K-FLEX from Italy are both foreign brands; both of them have manufacturing plants in China. Aloes’ manufacturing plants are located in Guangzhou and Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu Province, while K-FLEX’s manufacturing plant is in Wujiang, Suzhou. The known K-FLEX has been supplied to companies such as China Resources, CNPC and Sinopec, Huaji Houpu, Naidé, Furite Special Equipment, as well as other clients who prioritize long service life and high cost-effectiveness; the overall feedback on it is quite good. Ales is more well-known because it entered the Chinese market earlier. In terms of performance characteristics, each of these two brands has its own advantages; it depends on the customer’s preferences to decide which one to choose. These two types of flexible insulation materials are likely much more well-known abroad than in China, and they basically hold many authoritative international third-party certification certificates. In terms of price, K-FLEX has an advantage over Ales. I’ve heard that K-FLEX was established by some of the foreigners who used to work at Ales and left to start their own business; that’s why there are many similarities in their technical formulas.
The company is wholly owned by an Italian entity, and it has a factory in Wujiang, Suzhou, China. Currently, the main brands of flexible insulation materials available in the domestic market are these two: Ales from Germany and Fulus from Italy. Ales’ factory in China is located in Zhangjiagang, Suzhou!
