Is this technology mature in China yet?
I just read a post about the “Shanxi 300,000-ton ethylene glycol project,” which utilizes by-product coke oven gas and converter gas, and employs the CTEG technology developed by High Chemistry and Donghua Technology to produce 300,000 tons of ethylene glycol per year, while also generating 156 million cubic meters of LNG per year. I wonder if this approach could be used as a reference. The synthesis gas purification in ammonia plants uses a liquid nitrogen washing process, primarily to remove nitrogen and hydrogen. If methanation is used for purification, the methane content in the vent gas is not very high. Although this content increases after hydrogen recovery, using it for LNG production results in an excessively long payback period, making it uneconomical; therefore, the installation of such a facility is not recommended.
