In the “Code for Design and Construction of Motor Vehicle Fuel and Gas Stations” GB50156-2012, there is no specified minimum distance between LNG storage tanks and vent outlets. However, the vent requirement is that it must be more than 2 meters above buildings and structures within a 12-meter radius, and shall not be less than 5 meters. So, does a vertical LNG storage tank count as a structure? Please, those who are knowledgeable, offer your guidance~~~
Definitely not counted, right. For structures, you need something like a shed or something similar; it doesn’t refer to storage tanks
A storage tank is made up of a foundation: lol, the foundation can be considered a structure.
The vent pipe must be at least 2 meters above the top of the storage tank; our institute follows this standard
For vertical storage tanks, if the height is increased by another 2 meters, it will be around 16 meters in total. How do you provide support in such cases? Isn’t this cost a bit uneconomical?~~~
I have seen 2 types on site. One type is an independent centralized vent pipe, and the other is a vent pipe that is welded directly to the vertical storage tank. They are all 2 meters taller than vertical tanks.

According to Clause 6.6.6 of the “Technical Specifications for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Vehicle Refueling Stations”, the outlet of the vent pipe for centralized venting must be at least 2.0 meters higher than the LNG storage tank and any buildings within a 12.0-meter radius
This specification was published in 2011, when GB50156 had not yet been revised (only the 2006 version existed) and did not contain any content regarding the construction of LNG stations. However, LNG refueling stations have already become part of people’s lives. The lack of **standardized requirements (with only corporate standards and local standards existing) imposes severe restrictions on the LNG industry, hindering its development. Therefore, to address this urgent need, the Department of Energy introduced this standard. A year later, the Ministry of Construction revised GB50156 to the 2012 version; its content was largely similar to that of the original standard, with many improvements made, but it still had numerous gaps, which led to the release of the (2014 version). Since GB50156 was supplemented with provisions regarding the construction of LNG stations, this standard issued by the Ministry of Energy has largely faded from use (although it has not been officially declared obsolete).
