Changes in the composition and quantity of the feed gas entering the cold box result in variations in the load on the cold box, causing it to warm up or become supercooled, which in turn leads to changes in the composition of the refrigerant.
Check whether the temperature at the top of your cold box is around -35. The rise in the bottom temperature is probably due to a decrease in the amount of light components; is there not enough isopentane? The liquid level wasn’t maintained properly. This causes the mixed refrigerant, upon entering the cold box, to carry away the portion that should provide cooling to the bottom.
The refrigerant is not mixed evenly; in the refrigeration process using mixed refrigerants, the three sections of the cold box rely mainly on methane for cooling. The monitoring point mentioned in the text should be located at the buffer tank at the inlet of the MR compressor. The high level of methane detected is due to its accumulation in the inlet tank after addition, without any circulation occurring.
