On September 19, the two 200,000-cubic-meter LNG storage tanks in the second phase of the second stage of the Beihai LNG receiving station project in Guangxi were successfully topped out simultaneously, bringing the main structural construction of the project’s storage tanks to completion. It is understood that the second phase of this project was jointly designed by China National Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Corporation (referred to as Pipeline Design Institute) and China Tianchen Engineering Corporation. It includes two LNG storage tanks with a capacity of 200,000 cubic meters each, one flash vapor BOG compressor, one on-ground flare stack, And related supporting facilities. The project is funded by Beihai LNG Co., Ltd., which belongs to the Pipeline Network Group. It is a key infrastructure project for oil and gas development promoted by the National Development and Reform Commission. Once completed, it will serve as an important source of natural gas for the southern-to-northern transmission route in China, significantly enhancing the natural gas supply and emergency peak-shaving capabilities in the southwestern region of the country. It is reported that the dome of the tank that has been raised this time weighs over 997 tons, with a diameter of 86.4 meters; the area of the foundation base for a single tank is almost as large as that of a football field. To this end, the project design team developed an intelligent vault posture monitoring system that can monitor in real time information such as the vault’s upward movement trajectory, deviation angle, and balance level, enabling precise monitoring of the vault’s aerodynamic lifting process, real-time data acquisition, and threshold-based alarms.
