Berth 2 at the LNG terminal at Dongjiakou Port in Shandong has been officially put into use! Annual transfer capacity exceeds 10 million tons

On January 13, a Chinese-flagged ship broke through the fog barrier and successfully berthed at berth 2 of the LNG terminal at Dongjiakou Port; it was the first vessel to reach this berth since it was temporarily opened to external use. It is understood that once Berth 2 at the LNG terminal at Dongjiakou Port comes into operation, efficiency will increase significantly, raising the port’s annual handling capacity to 11 million tons (equivalent to 16.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas), thereby further enhancing Sinopec’s capacity to supply natural gas. Since the heating season began, the Dongjiakou Border Control Station has facilitated the unloading of 23 vessels carrying 1.625 million tons of LNG at the Qingdao LNG receiving station, thereby doing its utmost to meet the gas demand of the people in North China. Liquefied natural gas is an economical, environmentally friendly, safe, and reliable green energy source. The Qingdao Liquefied Natural Gas Reception Station is currently the only operating dual-berth liquefied natural gas reception facility in Shandong Province. It is also one of the key stations for providing heating during peak winter periods in North China. Its supply area covers Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hebei, Henan and other regions. The station has an annual unloading capacity of 11 million tons, with an annual gas supply capacity exceeding 16.5 billion cubic meters. The Dongjiakou Port LNG terminal is the most advanced receiving facility equipped with two LNG berths. The third phase of the Shandong Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) project involved the construction of a dedicated berth capable of accommodating LNG vessels with a capacity of 266,000 cubic meters, along with related facilities. This berth was completed and put into use in July 2023; it represents the second LNG berth to be built as part of this project. As a result, the Shandong Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) project has become the most advanced receiving facility in the province, equipped with two LNG berths.
