As of 8:00 on March 22, 2024, the Tarim Oil Field has supplied over 350 billion cubic meters of natural gas to the West-to-East Gas Transmission pipeline network. This supply has provided a solid guarantee for the energy needs of more than 400 million residents living in over 120 large and medium-sized cities in 15 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities downstream. On September 1, 2004, with the opening of the inlet valve at the first station of the West-East Gas Pipeline, natural gas produced by the Yaha condensate field in the Tarim Oil Field flowed into this pipeline first. As a result, clean natural gas flows across the vast territories of our country, continuously bringing benefits to the people living downstream and helping to propel our nation into a full-fledged \"natural gas era\". As the demand for natural gas continues to rise, the Tarim Oil Field is focusing on improving its natural gas production capacity, making every effort to increase output and ensure a stable supply. As of December 2017, the total volume of gas supplied to the West-to-East Gas Transmission pipeline network had exceeded 200 billion cubic meters ； As of March 2022, the volume of gas supplied exceeded 300 billion cubic meters, contributing to an increasing share of natural gas in China’s primary energy consumption. According to calculations, the 350 billion cubic meters of natural gas produced and transported by the Tarim Oil Field is equivalent to 466 million tons of standard coal, which in turn corresponds to a reduction of 757 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions. This has contributed to the optimization and adjustment of the energy and industrial structures in China’s eastern region, particularly in the Yangtze River Delta area. Over the nearly 20 years since the West-to-East Gas Transmission Project came online, the Tarim Oil Field has successively developed two giant gas fields with reserves of over 1 trillion cubic meters each, namely the Keeran-Keeshen and Bozi-Dabeibei fields. It has also successfully developed 19 large and medium-sized gas fields, including the Keeshen 9 field, which is the deepest gas field on China’s mainland, and the Keeshen 13 field, which has the highest pressure among such fields on the Chinese mainland. In 2023, the natural gas production of the Tarim Oil Field reached a new historical high, providing a solid foundation for the economic and social development as well as for ensuring access to gas for people’s daily needs.
