Recently, the pipeline construction for the gas replacement project in Wanglong, Zengcheng, Guangzhou, operated by the Mechanization Branch of China National Chemical Engineering Corporation’s 13th Construction Company, successfully completed the pressure testing of the last 5 kilometers of pipeline. With this, the construction of the 6.3MPa high-pressure gas pipeline has been brought to a successful conclusion. The project starts at the existing Guangyuanmen Station and ends at the Wanglong gas and power project. It is designed with a transmission pressure of 6.3 MPa, and it belongs to the GA1 class of high-pressure pipelines. Once in operation, it will be able to transport approximately 612 million cubic meters of gas per year, which is sufficient to meet the gas demand of 460 MW-class gas-steam combined cycle peak-shaving units. This pressure testing was carried out in strict accordance with engineering standards, with comprehensive checks on the pipeline’s pressure resistance and sealing performance, to ensure high quality and safe and stable gas transmission once the pipelines are put into use. This project is a key supporting facility for the Wanglong gas and power project. The Wanglong gas and electricity substitution project aims to replace the existing coal-fired units, promote a clean energy transition, and is of great significance for ensuring regional energy security and advancing energy conservation and emission reduction. The pressure testing of the gas pipeline was completed successfully, thereby establishing a reliable \"lifeline\" for the supply of clean energy to the project and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent commissioning and operation of the units. As a key project in Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City, as well as part of the \"Conquering Key Areas\" initiative, once operational, this project will enable the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1.07 million tons per year. It will achieve significant results in terms of energy conservation and emission reduction, further ensuring the power supply stability in the eastern part of Guangzhou, optimizing the power structure in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and contributing to the region’s sustainable, low-carbon development.
