China’s first domestic inland liquefied biomethane refueling completed

The 25th National \"Safety Production Month\" in 2026: Everyone talks about safety, and everyone knows how to handle emergencies; identifying and addressing risks and hazards. -------------------------------------------------- On July 4, the first filling of liquefied biomethane (LBM) along the Yangtze River took place at the Yangtze River LNG receiving station in Wuhu. This refueling fills the gap in commercial waterborne LBM refueling services on China’s inland rivers, marking a crucial transition for the Yangtze River shipping industry from a \"gasified Yangtze River\" to a \"green gas Yangtze River\". 　　As the key entity responsible for the research and development of LBM technology as well as ensuring a stable supply of fuel, Marriott Energy has developed its own set of processes, gaining full control over the core technologies involved in high-temperature anaerobic fermentation and purification/liquefaction. It uses waste materials such as crop straws, agricultural and forestry residues, and organic livestock and poultry manure to produce compliant marine-grade LBM. 　　This first refueling operation has successfully established an integrated commercial operation chain that encompasses the conversion of agricultural and forestry waste into gas, storage and transportation at land-based hubs, refueling at water bodies, and final use on ships. By leveraging Marriott Energy’s self-developed and controllable LBM equipment technology, a standardized, replicable, and scalable model for the use of negative-carbon fuels in inland waterways has been created, thereby providing strong innovative momentum for the protection of the Yangtze River, efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the shipping industry, and the sustainable and high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
