The smell test – pull out the oil dipstick and bring it close to your nose; if there is a strong sour smell, it indicates that the engine oil has deteriorated and should be replaced. 2. The finger rubbing method: Rub the removed old engine oil back and forth between the thumb and index finger. High-quality oil feels lubricating, produces few debris, and offers no feeling of friction. If it feels gritty, has poor viscosity, or even a bitter taste, it should be replaced. 3. Color identification method: Take a clean white filter paper (a high-quality facial tissue can be used), drop a few drops of old engine oil on it. Once the oil has seeped in, high-quality oil will have no powder; it will feel dry and smooth to the touch, with a clear yellow staining area. It is dark brown in color and contains impurities; it should be replaced. 4. The lighting method: Remove the oil dipstick and hold it at a 45-degree angle; under light, observe the oil droplets. It is considered good if no impurities can be seen within the droplets. If there are too many impurities, it is necessary to replace the oil. The methods mentioned above only allow for assessing the quality of oil based on its surface characteristics; there are many other indicators that cannot be determined by looking at the surface, and it is necessary to turn to third-party oil testing institutions for such assessments!!
