……In our company’s chlorinated paraffin production workshop, it is necessary to display and transmit in real time the density values of the materials during the chlorination process of liquid paraffin. During the chlorination of paraffin, the reaction medium contains quite high concentrations of chlorine and chloride ions, which imposes high corrosion resistance requirements on the materials used in the liquid-contacting parts of online analyzers. Conventional vibrating density meters, whose probes or sensor components are made of stainless steel, cannot be used in this context; special materials are required. If there is a stable, fixed liquid level section available in the reaction system, a differential pressure transmitter with a special coated diaphragm can be used to measure the density of the medium; by utilizing the linear relationship between the differential pressure at a fixed liquid level and density, it is possible to determine the density accurately.
……Thank you to all of you for your recommendations. We recently tried a fork-type density meter; the part of the instrument that comes into contact with the material is coated with PTFE. It is inserted into a bypass line of the material circulation pipeline, but the measurement values showed significant deviations. Another requirement is that during the production process, the density of materials at higher temperatures should be automatically converted into the density of those materials at 50°C, as the density of the final chlorinated paraffin product is measured at 50°C; this allows for an easy assessment of whether the reaction has reached its completion. That manufacturer can’t do it; maybe the requirement is too high. I wonder if there is such a densitometer? ? ? ……Thank you all again for your help:handshake
